Healthcare SEO

Local SEO for Healthcare Practices That Need More Patient Appointments

Get your clinic, chamber or diagnostic centre found when patients search "child specialist near me", "diagnostic center open now" or "best gynecologist in Dhanmondi", and make booking an appointment the obvious next step.

  • Practice and practitioner profiles set up the way Google's guidelines allow
  • Specialty, test and treatment pages written for patients, reviewed for accuracy
  • MedicalClinic and Physician schema with doctor credentials and hours
  • Review replies that protect patient privacy

Healthcare Local SEO helps clinics, doctors, diagnostic centres and therapy practices appear in Google Maps and local search when patients look for care nearby. It covers the right medical categories on your Google Business Profile, clear specialty and test pages, doctor credentials, appointment links and privacy-safe review handling, so searchers trust you enough to book.

Medical searches fall under what Google treats as Your Money or Your Life topics, so accuracy and visible expertise carry more weight than in most industries. I apply my Local SEO service with that in mind: every claim on a treatment page should be something your doctors would sign off.

Where patients slip away

Why patients book with the clinic down the road instead

  • One listing for everything

A multi-specialty clinic listed only as "Medical clinic" misses searches for a pediatrician, a physiotherapist or a diagnostic test. Category and services setup is the first part of my Google Business Profile optimization for practices.

  • Doctors without their own presence

Patients often search a doctor's name, not the clinic's. Google allows practitioner profiles for doctors who see patients publicly, but many are missing, duplicated or still show an old chamber address.

  • Hours that do not match reality

Chambers that run evenings only, labs that open at 7 am, and changed hours over Eid or public holidays. Wrong hours on Maps send patients to a locked door and generate angry reviews. Special hours are on my Google Business Profile checklist for a reason.

  • Thin treatment pages

A list of specialties with one line each will not rank for "physiotherapy for back pain near me" or "thyroid test price". Patients need what it is, who does it, how to prepare and what it costs.

What's included

What healthcare Local SEO includes

  • Categories that match your services

Primary category chosen from what you mostly do: Medical clinic, Doctor, Diagnostic center, Medical laboratory, Urgent care center, Physiotherapist or a specialist category such as Pediatrician. Additional categories only where real services exist.

  • Practitioner and location structure

One profile per real location, practitioner profiles for doctors who want them, duplicates merged or removed, and an appointment link that goes straight to booking or your serial system.

  • Specialty, test and treatment pages

One page per specialty or common test with symptoms it addresses, the doctors who handle it, preparation steps, timing and, where you publish them, prices. Each page names the medical reviewer and the date it was checked.

  • Schema for medical entities

MedicalClinic or MedicalBusiness markup for the practice, Physician for individual doctors with medicalSpecialty, openingHoursSpecification per department, and sameAs links to official listings and the doctor's profiles.

  • Privacy-safe review handling

A post-visit review link sent to every patient, never only happy ones. Replies thank the reviewer without confirming they were a patient or mentioning any medical detail, which keeps you inside privacy rules such as HIPAA in the US.

  • Medical directories and citations

Consistent NAP and doctor names on health directories, hospital affiliation pages, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect, plus insurance or panel lists where those apply in your country.

What Google weighs

Ranking factors that matter most for clinics and doctors

Relevance, distance and prominence still decide the Map Pack. In healthcare, distance is strong because patients rarely travel far for routine care, so relevance and trust have to carry the rest.

  1. Specialty relevance

Your categories, services list and page content need to name the exact specialty or test the patient searched. A clinic that lists "ENT" but never says ear, nose and throat specialist on its pages loses some of those searches.

  2. Visible expertise

Doctor bios with qualifications, registration numbers (BMDC in Bangladesh), years in practice and hospital affiliations. These support both rankings and the patient's decision.

  3. Photos patients want to see

Reception, waiting area, the outside of the building with signage, lab or imaging equipment, and doctor portraits taken with consent. Never patient photos without written permission.

  4. Review rating and recency

Patients read the latest reviews before booking. A steady flow of new reviews with calm, professional replies does more than a high rating from reviews three years old.

What the work looks like

How I measure results for a healthcare practice

I report on appointment bookings, calls and direction requests from your profile, plus which specialty pages patients open before booking. Profile calls are often the clearest signal: one business I worked with logged 461 calls from its Google Business Profile between April and August 2024, up 205% on the year before, after a category, services and review rebuild.

Practices usually see Maps improvements for core specialty searches in 3 to 6 months, and booking growth after 6 to 9 months. Dental practices have their own search patterns, covered in dental clinic SEO.

Why practices work with me

  • Medical content written plainly and checked by your doctors before it goes live
  • Profile setup that follows Google's rules for practitioners and departments
  • Review processes that respect patient privacy
  • Reporting on bookings and calls, with no lock-in contracts
  • Other regulated and service sectors I work with are listed on the industries overview

Frequently Asked Questions

Healthcare SEO questions

Should each doctor at my clinic have their own Google Business Profile?

Google allows separate practitioner profiles for doctors who see patients directly, alongside the clinic's profile. It helps when patients search doctors by name. If a clinic has only one doctor, Google suggests a single profile using the practice name and doctor name together.

What is the best GBP category for a clinic?

Choose the category that describes most of your patient visits: Medical clinic for general practice, a specialist category like Pediatrician for single-specialty practices, or Diagnostic center for test-led businesses. Add other categories only for services you actually provide.

Can I reply to negative patient reviews?

Yes, but never confirm the person was a patient or mention any treatment detail. Thank them, state your standards in general terms, and invite them to contact the practice directly. Calm replies reassure the many people who read reviews before booking.

Should I publish test and consultation prices?

If your pricing is stable, yes. Searches like "CBC test price" or "consultation fee" are common, especially in Bangladesh. Clear prices reduce phone queries and attract patients who are ready to book. Keep the prices on your site and profile in sync.

How do patients in Bangladesh search for doctors?

Mostly on mobile, in English, Bangla or romanised Bangla, often by specialty and area, such as "medicine specialist Mirpur" or "gynae doctor Uttara". Many also search a doctor's name plus "chamber" or "serial" to find where and how to book.

How long does healthcare SEO take?

Most practices see Maps movement in 3 to 6 months and steady booking growth after 6 to 9 months. New clinics and crowded areas like Dhanmondi or Panthapath take longer because of the number of established competitors nearby.
